1st Annual Community in the Park Event

What an exciting way to kick off and wrap up the event with the Palm Beach Sheriff’s helicopter landing and taking off! It was quite a sight for everyone, especially the kids. The event was well received by the community members of South Bay and Belle Glade. The variety of activities, from face painting to jewelry making and even getting up close with animals like donkeys and zebras, surely made it a memorable experience for everyone involved.

The purpose the Community Event in the Park is to foster interest in various trades to teens and young adults amongst the community. By showcasing a variety of trades such as carpentry, plumbing, electrical work, automotive repair, and more, we aim to introduce young people to alternative career paths that may not require a traditional college education. Through hands-on demonstrations and conversations with professionals in these fields, attendees will have the chance to explore different options for their future and learn about the opportunities available to them.

We hope to remove any barriers that may prevent community members from participating in afterschool activities. By creating a fun and engaging environment where participants can learn new skills and discover potential career paths, we hope to inspire and empower young people in Belle Glade to pursue their passions and achieve their goals.

By bringing together law enforcement agencies such as Emergency Field Force, SWAT, The Mounted Unit, The Bomb Squad ,The Community Policing Unit, Aviation Unit, Commanders from the Glades and Florida Highway Patrol and community sponsors including, Rescue Life, Autism Collier, Place of Hope, Project Lift, Okeechobee Steakhouse (provided a BBQ lunch), Crimestoppers PBC, Furry Friends, Toff & Talulah, Jupiter Bounce House, Simplified Horsemanship, Latham Marine, U.S. Army Recruiters, Fit Phil, and Soul Grateful to support and engage with the community was a wonderful way to build trust and strengthen relationships. It’s heartwarming to see everyone coming together to support and engage with each other, especially when it involves providing a fun and memorable experience for the kids. Events like these truly highlight the positive impact that collaboration and community involvement can have on society.

A huge thank you to some very special guests; South Bay Mayor Joe Kyles, S. Bay Commissioner Albert Polk, and newly elected Commissioner Barbara King.
