PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. — Rescue Life Sanctuary is home to a remarkable array of creatures, including horses, dogs, cats, zebras, donkeys and even pigs. Its mission is to create a “slice of heaven” for these animals.

“Animals that have come to Rescue Life have either been from a shelter or an unfortunate situation where someone can’t afford them anymore, or they’ve come from an abusive situation,” said Stacy Walgreen, development director of Rescue Life Sanctuary.
“We bring them in, we rehab them,” Walgreen explained. “While some animals are eventually adopted out, many remain at the sanctuary living out their days in a loving environment as part of their enriching programs that foster connection and healing.”

One of the standout features of Rescue Life is its commitment to therapy and outreach programs, primarily benefiting children with special needs.

“Throughout the year, the sanctuary hosts groups from various organizations, including local schools and foundations that support children with special needs or those in foster care,” Walgreen said. “We welcome kids from Els for Autism, Friendship Circle, Fort Lauderdale’s Extraordinary Kids Foundation and others. It’s incredible to see the joy these animals bring.”
